Biography - Anthony Bonapart

Anthony Bonapart is a Gulf War Veteran, United States Air Force and was raised in Charlotte NC. He currently works for the North Carolina Department of Labor, Division of Occupational Safety and Health as the Department Safety Coordinator. He also serves as the Department's advisor on emergency planning and Homeland Security matters and represents the agency on Federal Homeland Security boards and commissions, the North Carolina Emergency Response Commission, the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission, and was appointed Commissioner to the North Carolina Radiation Commission in 2006.

Before assuming his current position, Anthony worked for the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management as the State Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) program manager. In this position he was the state's technical point of contact for more than 6,000 facilities and agencies subject to or impacted by the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) series of regulations. He has traveled extensively throughout North Carolina, assessing chemical facilities compliance with federal guidelines. He also provided interpretations of North Carolina laws and Federal regulations that govern hazardous materials storage, transportation, spills, and reporting requirements.

In 2007, the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina bestowed upon him the Manager of Environmental, Safety and Health (MESH) Certification. The certification is awarded to individuals with environmental or safety responsibilities after completing 100 training hours of specialized courses.

Anthony also has a Master of Human Relations degree from the University of Oklahoma and is married to the former Iris Truesdale of Charlotte, NC.
