David is a native of Maine, born and raised by a lumberman in the little town of Phillips.
He played basketball, ran cross country and the 2 mile in track graduating from Phillips
High School in 1967. David married in 1968, was drafted into the army in 1969 and served
his tour as a Military Police Officer in California after basic at Fort Dix and AIT at
Fort Gordon, Ga. He left the service as an E-5 Sgt. and went back to Maine to continue
working as a millwright at International Paper Company in Jay, Maine until which time he
was called to serve in the Maine State Police in 1973 serving almost 23 years to
retirement in 1995. David joined the West Gardiner, Maine Volunteer Fire Department in 1974
and served nearly every position there until resigning in October, 1995. David joined the Maine
Army National Guard in 1985 and served with the 133rd heavy engineers for seven years as an
assistant squad leader and a heavy equipment operator and trainer.
David and his wife, Barbara Tribou, moved to Raleigh in November 1995. He sold real estate
for 7 years and now is a currier for Real Estate whip Linda Craft & Team. They have three girls and two grandsons.
David joined The American Legion in 1998 and has held the 3 posts of Third Vice, First Vice and
and was Commander from July 2002 to July 2004.
