Meeting Highlights:
Legionnaire of the Year

The members of American Legion Post One are proud to announce their 2006-2007 Legionnaire of the Year, Nicholas Jones. This year's recipient has made quite an impact on the post and community. Nicholas has been a member of the American Legion for 17 years and currently serves as The Sergeant-at-Arms. Nick is renowned as one of the hardest working men in the post, who's responsibilities include advising the commander on post issues, arranging the meeting hall and custodian of the colors. He was recently selected as Sergeant-at-Arms for the State fall conference that was held in Raleigh NC. Nick has rented the hall to Raleigh residents for three years, securing thousands of dollars in rental funds to support post activities. He is an active member of St. James Methodist Church and an avid bowler who competes in the senior league here in Raleigh NC. At the August 2007 membership meeting Nick gave an inspiring speech to the members on etiquette and proper observance of parliamentary procedures. Nick served in the United States Army for three years.
