1. African American Post Traumatic Stress Disorder AssociationChartered 1996 -Provides information on PTSD and assistance with homelessness, self-education, training programs and claims preparation for individuals with PTSD and/or other military service-related concerns. Open to all Veterans, not only minority Veterans, and/or Veterans with PTSD.
2. Air Force Sergeants Association-Chartered November 18, 1997 -Organization that represents the interests of current and former enlisted personnel in the Air Force, Air National Guard, Reserve and their families. Co-sponsors, with the Airmen Memorial Foundation, scholarships for dependents.
3. American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor-Chartered March 21, 1946 -Brings together WWII Veterans who were POWs of the Japanese and assists the families of those men killed in action or who died in captivity, as they try to learn more about their loved ones.
4. American Ex-Prisoners of War-Chartered August 10, 1982 -Provides assistance to former prisoners of war, military or civilian, and their families, for a range of services, including VA benefits claims and finding lost buddies. Also provides information on prison camp descriptions and medical issues.
5. American GI Forum of the United States-Chartered March 1948 -Established in 1948 to address problems of discrimination and inequalities endured by Hispanic Veterans. Continues to serve the disadvantaged and represents an opportunity for civic involvement for the returning Veteran with leadership, volunteer opportunities, and advocacy.
6. American Gold Star Mothers, Inc.-Chartered June 12, 1984 -An organization of mothers who have lost a son or daughter in the service of our country, which provides support to these mothers and their families and works with Veterans and other Veteran organizations.
7. American Legion-Chartered September 16, 1919 -We are the greatest! Offers a variety of programs that provide financial assistance, career resources and other supports for Veterans and their families.
8. American Red Cross-Chartered January 5, 1905 -Provides Active Duty and community-based military with emergency communications that link them with their families back home, access to financial assistance from the military aid societies, counseling, referral to community resources and assistance to Veterans.
9. American War Mothers-Chartered February 24, 1925 -Organization whose members are mothers of children who have served or are serving in the Armed Services during a time of conflict.
10. AMVETS-Chartered July 23, 1947 -Services include help with filing a VA claim, career center and scholarships for Veterans and active military and their children.
11. Armed Forces Services Corporation-Chartered 1879 -Offers service members, Veterans and their families personalized service in handling their government benefits, including beneficiary changes on insurance policies, claims representation and more.
12. Army and Navy Union, USA, Inc.-Chartered November 6, 1986 -Promotes, fosters, encourages and perpetuates fraternal comradeship among all those who have seen honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United States. Membership is open to Veterans and Active Duty Service Members who have served or still are serving honorably in the Armed Forces.
13. Blinded Veterans Association-Chartered August 27, 1958 -Organization of blinded Veterans helping blinded Veterans. Provides resources and service programs, such as Operation Peer Support, which links recently blinded Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan with their counterparts from previous conflicts. BVA's Field Service Program links Veterans to services, rehabilitation training, job search assistance and other benefits.
14. Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc.-Chartered June 1960 -Non-profit service organization that supports mothers and their children while promoting patriotism. Members are mothers who now have, or have had, children honorably serving in the military.
15. Catholic War Veterans, USA, Inc.-Chartered August 17, 1984 -Service organization for the nation's Catholic Veterans and those who support them. Works to increase awareness of the struggle and needs of our nation's Veterans, their widows and children.
16. Congressional Medal of Honor Society of the United States of America-Chartered July 14, 1958 -Members include recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor. Fosters friendship and comradeship among all holders, protects the name of the medal and individual recipients from exploitation and provides appropriate aid to all persons to whom the medal has been awarded, their widows or their children.
17. Disabled American Veterans-Chartered June 17, 1932 -Provides services and assistance to Veterans, including DoD and VA benefits claims, transportation to and from VA medical facilities, help for homeless Veterans and transition back into civilian life.
18. Fleet Reserve Association-Chartered October 23, 1996 -The leading voice of enlisted Sea Service personnel on Capitol Hill, preserves and enhances benefits and quality-of-life programs for members of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
19. Gold Star Wives of America, Inc.-Chartered December 4, 1980 -Provides service, support and friendship to the widows and widowers of military personnel who died on active duty or as the result of a service connected cause. Also assists members in understanding and obtaining VA, DoD and other benefits.
20. Italian American War Veterans of the USA-Chartered November 20, 1981 -Provides support and assistance to Veterans and their families. Services include VA benefits claims representation, aid, peer support and more.
21. Jewish War Veterans of the USA-Chartered August 21, 1984 -Membership organization of Jewish Veterans offering support to current Jewish service members and new Veterans. Provides scholarships for descendants of JWV members, a network of Veterans' Service Officers, member life and health insurance coverage and a prescription program, the JWV disaster relief fund, care packages to military personnel and more.
22. Korean War Veterans Association, Inc.-Chartered July 27, 1992 -Association of persons who have provided honorable service during the Korean War at any time between June 25, 1950 and January 31, 1955, and of certain other persons, including Gold Star parents and spouses. Provides a means of contact and communication among the members, promotes the establishment of memorials and aids needy members and their wives and children, and the widows and children of persons who were members at the time of their death.
23. Legion of Valor of the USA, Inc.-Chartered July 4, 1955 -Organization of members who are recipients of the Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross and Air Force Cross. Advances the best interest of members of the Armed Forces of the United States, enhances their prestige and understanding by example and personal activity and extends all possible relief to needy members, their widows, and children.
24. Marine Corps League-Chartered July 4, 1937 -Service organization of former and current members of the Marine Corps, offering programs to current and veteran Marines and their family members to include wounded marines programs and scholarship opportunities.
25. Military Chaplains Association of the United States of America-Chartered September 20, 1950 -A support and advocacy organization dedicated to the religious freedom and spiritual welfare of service members, veterans, their families and their survivors. Also provides financial assistance to seminary students who are currently serving as chaplain candidates in the Air Force, Army or Navy.
26. Military Order of the Purple Heart of the U.S.A., Inc.-Chartered August 26, 1958 -Provides services and programs for Purple Heart recipients, including assistance with VA benefits claims through 70 offices nationwide, scholarships, automobile donations and more.
27. Military Order of the World Wars-Chartered October 23, 1992 -Provides an opportunity for officers of all of the federal Uniformed Services to unite in a strong program to promote national security, patriotism, good citizenship and service to country. The Order is comprised of over 133 Chapters across the nation and supports programs including youth leadership and the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC).
28. National Amputation Foundation, Inc.-Chartered 1919 -Provides programs and services to help Veterans who lost a limb or limbs in service to their country. Programs include peer counseling, medical equipment donation and recreational activities.
29. National Association for Black Veterans, Inc.-Chartered July 1969 -A Veterans' advocacy organization that addresses the unmet needs of minority and economically disadvantaged Veterans. Provides benefits and services covering claims, health care, compensation and pension, education and training and more.
30. National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, Inc.-Chartered June 1990 -Works with the VA and other Veterans organizations to assure that Veterans and their dependents receive the entitlements they deserve.
31. National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs (NASDVA)-Chartered March 18, 1988 -Works to secure uniformity, equality, efficiency and effectiveness in providing services to Veterans and their families, especially in regards to claims representation.
32. National Veterans Legal Services Program-Chartered 1981 -Provides Veterans organizations, service officers and attorneys with training and educational publications to enable them to help Veterans and their dependents obtain all of the benefits that they deserve. Represents Veterans and their dependents who are seeking benefits from the VA and in court.
33. National Veterans Organization of America (NOVA) -Protects Veterans benefits and represents Veterans in the preparation, presentation and prosecution of Veteran's claims.
34. Navy Club of the United States of America -Chartered June 6, 1940 -Service organization made up of citizens of the U.S. who have served, or are now serving in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, Seabees, or the U.S. Coast Guard. Advocates on military personnel policy, compensations and retirement formulas.
35. Navy Mutual Aid Association-Chartered July 28, 1879 -Provides life insurance and annuity products, assists Sea Service Members and their survivors in securing the federal benefits to which they are legally entitled and provides education on financial security matters, which are specifically tailored to the military member and family.
36. Non Commissioned Officers Association-Chartered April 6, 1988 -Advocates on behalf of current and former enlisted Service Members and their families. Legislative efforts cover compensation, benefits and quality of life issues. Also offers financial assistance for health care, education and disaster relief and employment assistance.
37. Paralyzed Veterans of America-Chartered August 11, 1971 -Works to maximize the quality of life for people with spinal cord injury and disease. Advocates for health care, research, education, veterans' benefits and rights, accessibility and the removal of architectural barriers, sports programs and disability rights.
38. Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, Inc. -Chartered October 7, 1985 -Organization of Veterans who survived Pearl Harbor. A symbol of America's commitment to preparedness against unprovoked acts of aggression, dedicated to ensuring that this and future generations remember the events of December 7, 1941.
39. Polish Legion of American Veterans, USA -Chartered June 23, 1984 -Organization of Veterans committed to the ideals of patriotism, charity and volunteerism who dedicate time and effort to insure that no benefits are denied to those who served their country and to support legislation intended for those who earned the right to the benefits being considered.
40. Swords to Plowshares: Veterans Rights Organization -Chartered December 23, 1974 -Provides transition assistance, emergency shelter, mental health services, residential rehabilitation programs, job referrals and free legal attorney representation to Veterans and their families. Also includes information specific to the needs of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans.
41. The Retired Enlisted Association -Chartered October 23, 1992 -Supports uniformed services enlisted personnel, their families and survivors, including active components, Reserve and National Guard and all retirees, and works to stop the erosion of earned benefits through legislative efforts. 42. United Spinal Association -National non-profit membership organization formed by paralyzed Veterans whose mission is to improve the quality of life of Americans with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D). The VetsFirst program directly serves the needs of the Veteran community, offering a network of National Service Officers to Veterans that provide assistance and representation in claims for VA benefits and services and legal representation before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
43. United States Submarine Veterans, Inc. -Chartered November 20, 1981 -If you are Qualified in Submarines we want you in United States Submarine Veterans Inc. We have 150+ local Bases (chapters) from Pearl Harbor to Portsmouth, NH and two Internet bases. Our members are from every state in the Union. In addition to the regional and district meetings throughout the year we also hold a National Convention in a different city every year.
44. US Submarine Veterans of World War II -Organization serves to perpetuate the memory of those shipmates who gave their lives in submarine warfare; to further promote and keep alive the spirit and unity that existed among United States Navy Submarine crewmen during World War II; to promote sociability, general welfare, and good fellowship among its members; and pledge loyalty and patriotism to the United States government.
45. Veterans Assistance Foundation, Inc. -Operates transitional housing programs for military Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The VAF currently operates these programs throughout Wisconsin and in California but provides supportive services and transitional housing for Veterans from all over the U.S. Find out about the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program.
46. Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States -Chartered May 28, 1936 -Assists veterans with benefits including compensation, pension, health care, vocational rehabilitation and employment, education and training, home loans, life insurance, and dependency and indemnity compensation.
47. Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc./Vets. Coalition -Comprised of 90 posts worldwide, VVnW strives to maintain, improve, preserve and defend the quality of life of all Veterans and their families. Programs include the United Veterans Beacon House, a transitional homeless Veterans housing and reintegration program, Military Support Package Project for military serving overseas and Support Packages to Veterans' families, Veterans in Conflict with the Law (Incarcerated Veterans), casework assistance, counseling resources and a 24-hour 1-800-VIETNAM phone line.
48. Veterans of World War I of the USA, Inc. -Chartered July 18, 1958 -Organization serves to unite in fraternal, civic, and social comradeship those who have served honorably in the Armed Forces of the United States, during the period of World War I, and to provide for their welfare in health, sickness and distress; to give aid to the families and dependents of their deceased comrades; to seek and labor for preferential legislation and the enactment of laws, in federal, state, and local legislative bodies, beneficial to comrades who served honorably in World War I.
49. Vietnam Veterans of America -Chartered May 23, 1986 -Represents Vietnam-era Veterans and their families and advocates on Veterans issues, provides VA benefits claims representation and supports the next generation of war Veterans. Local Service Officers are available throughout the country for assistance with VA benefits and other related claims.
50. Women`s Army Corps Veterans Association -Chartered October 30, 1984 -Membership organization for those who have served in the Women's Army Corps, the Auxiliary Corps or the Army, Army Reserve or the Army National Guard. Provides volunteer services to VA and civilian hospitals and nursing homes.
51. Wounded Warrior Project -Offers programs and services including benefits counseling, employment assistance, family support, recreational activities and more, to assist severely injured Veterans of the Iraq, Afghanistan and other recent conflicts transition back to civilian life.
